Fortel celebrates Highways Heroes nomination for its life-saving security guards

Fortel Group is proud to share that four of its security guards, contracted under its Nexus Security business, have been nominated in this year’s Highways Heroes Awards.

Moshood Agoro, Akshay Kumar, Adeyemi Adeniji, and Subindra Rai have been recognised by Highways Heroes for their quick thinking and dedication in preventing suicide attempts at construction sites.

In two separate incidents, these four security guards have demonstrated vigilance and compassion to prevent two suicide attempts at the M2 Medway Bridge safety improvements site in Kent.

In their roles, they are primarily tasked with securing construction sites for Nexus Security’s clients. However, their actions extended above and beyond the call of duty when they encountered two young men on separate occasions in desperate situations. Their swift and empathetic responses have saved lives and provided hope to individuals in their darkest hours.

Their interventions are underscored by the Mental Health Awareness training they received through the mental health charity, Mind, organised by Fortel Group as part of their personal development. This training has equipped them with the skills and sensitivity required to handle such critical situations.

The standard of entries for the Highways Heroes Awards is exceptionally high, with judges going through a rigorous selection process to pick the finalists. The awards were established to recognise the heroic actions of individuals in the highways industry.

The winner will be announced at the Highways Heroes ceremony, taking place at London Hilton, Park Lane, on 28th November 2024 where our HSW Manager, Hardeep Sanghera will be on the judging panel after his win at these awards last year.
