JT Matthews Purchase S-WAY To Meet Increased Demand

A leading roofing materials supplier has invested in a brand new IVECO S-WAY rigid unit in order to boost its fleet to meet increased demand.

JT Matthews, based in Wolverhampton, has introduced the new 26 tonne vehicle to its fleet - taking the company’s commercial vehicle total to 7 including five HGV’s - following a delivery from Guest Truck and Van, the UK’s leading IVECO dealer.

The new IVECO S-WAY rigid purchase provides the company’s drivers with an approximate 14 tonne payload, as well as impressive rear steer facility - a key feature enabling accessibility to domestic development sites - alongside a range of comfort and liveability benefits.

The vehicle - branded in JT Matthews colours - had been kept in pristine condition prior to being taken to the recent Truckfest by the Guest Truck and Van team but is now in regular use by drivers.

Phil Barker, Managing Director, said: “We’ve been loyal to IVECO for many years, they suit our application for a variety of reasons.

“We wanted to be one of the first on the road with the new S-WAY Rigid - we always want to give the best impression possible to our clients, as well as keeping our drivers happy and equipping them to do their job as effectively and efficiently as possible.

“Investing in a vehicle like this is something I am happy to do, our drivers treat their trucks with respect and look after them, this is what our company prides itself on.

“We are going through a really busy period right now due to an increase in people carrying out home improvements and our fantastic team is working hard to meet that demand.”

Starting life as a roofing contracting firm in the 1940’s, JT Matthews has pivoted over the years to focus on roofing supplies, with the business now carrying out nationwide deliveries.

The latest acquisition will be used to transport roofing materials to JT Matthews’ customers, primarily within a 50-mile radius of its site in Bilston, West Midlands.

Rob Spittle, Managing Director of Guest Truck and Van, said: “JT Matthews is a long-standing customer of ours and we are delighted to support them as they continue to grow.

“The S-WAY has already been a fantastic hit across our customer base and I am very confident that the team here are going to love it.”

The vehicle has already been used by driver Brett, who said: “I have been driving trucks for more than two decades and I have to say from first impressions, this is going to prove itself to be the best.

“It is perfect for what we do, the rear steering is unbelievable and allows us to access all manner of tricky sites.”
